Should I Join a Scuba Diving Club?

Why Join a Scuba Diving Club?

Many divers simply stop diving when they complete their open water course. The main reason for this is that they do not have anyone to dive with. Either their partner doesn’t dive or their friends aren’t interested in it.

So the main benefit for joining a dive club is that it gives you a reason to go diving, and as you know scuba diving is one of life’s greatest pleasures!

There are many other benefits to joining a club other than just to go diving. Diving frequently makes you a much better diver, and generally speaking the better you get the more you enjoy it.

You’ll normally meet loads of new fun and friendly people. Okay so most dive clubs have their occasional oddball, but that does help to keep it interesting and makes you appreciate others.

You’ll probably end up travelling to place that you never even imagined. If it wasn’t for me joining my first dive club then I would never have gone on my first ever dive trips to Malta and the Red Sea. Those holidays sparked my life-long passion for diving and ultimately made my career.

There are also financial benefits to joining a dive club, at Oyster Diving you’ll receive money off PADI courses, UK trips, equipment and free pool dives.

Our monthly pub nights mean you get to ask other divers about what trips, kit and courses would be most suitable to you. It’s also a good excuse to have a few drinks and have a good laugh.

So if you want to make the most of your diving certification then definitely consider joining a club. You are welcome to come and meet the team either at one of our pools or on one of our pub nights and there is no commitment to join until you are ready to do so.

Many of our club members also go on to form their own dive clubs within their organisations. They leave us to do most of the work and they then get lots of extra benefits such as subsidised holidays and courses.

We hope to see you soon and help you discover a world of diving that you might ordinarily miss!
