'Silfra and Northern Lights' Iceland
9-12th March 2018
A special place in Iceland has earned legendary status among the international dive community. It’s a relatively small geological feature where, literally, worlds collide. Massive rifts at Silfra hold crystal-clear spring water straight from Iceland’s second largest glacier. Divers can bridge the gap between the continents and touch the North American and the Eurasian tectonic plates at the same time. The plates drift apart by about 2cm a year! Visibility can exceed 100 metres/330 feet and one of the prettiest spots, the aptly named Cathedral, is breathtaking. It’s about 20 metres/70 feet deep and 100 metres/330 feet long, with sheer walls. The water is so clear that divers can see from end to end. Diving here is unique and unforgettable, and offers world-class adventure for everyone from new divers to hard-core tec divers, and you don’t even have to wash your gear when you’re done.
If that wasn't enough we are also planning a trip to see the Northern Lights, the world's most spectacular natural light shows. The northern lights are the result of electrically charged particles from the sun colliding with gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere, causing displays of bright, colourful dancing lights. They are visible in the magnetic polar regions of the northern and southern hemispheres (they are known as Aurora australis in the south) and they can range in colour from white, green, pink and purple.
Arriving in Reykjavic we will check in to the hotel and head out for some sightseeing, drinks and food in this stunning City.
We will be collected from the hotel by mini-bus and taken to Silfra. Here we will do 2 dives to explore the tectonic plates and these crystal clear waters - you can even drink it!
There is an option to do some more diving or you can use the day to explore some of the other fantastic things that Iceland is famous for such as hot springs, quad biking, volcanos and glaciers.
In the evening we will head off in to the dark to look for the northern lights.

Will there be any other single people there? The majority of people on the trip will be travelling alone. We will happily put you in a cabin to share with someone of the same sex and similar age/mindset.
What if a friend/partner wishes to come but they don’t dive? No problem and we might be able to get them a small reduction in the price too and they can snorkel Silfra if they like
